Ribbed Pot #RP1

This sculptural piece, remenicent of a seed pod, has grooves cut in to the stonware clay to reveal the gritty nature of the clay body, I have emphasised this with the addition of iron oxide in varying saturations. The glaze has been applied to the smooth surfaces for contrast and to accent the top bursting open.

All my sculptural pieces are made from stoneware clay fired to 1260 degrees centigrade in a reduction kiln, so they are truly robust enough to live outdoors throughout the year.
